US Jet Aerobatic Team

US Jet Aerobatic TeamCivilian jet teams are rare throughout the world, but a team flying the classic Fouga Magister, a French-designed and built trainer... well there's only one team flying them today, and we are delighted to introduce them to you for the first time at Springfield Air Rendezvous 2006.

Scott Lesh organized the first US civilian jet team in 1988 and brought some outstanding talent into the act from day one. Three aircraft and pilots will fly at SAR 2006.

Scott Lesh, US Jet Aerobatic TeamConsidered by many to be one of the best looking jets ever built, The Fouga CM-170 Magister (French for schoolhouse) was the first jet, designed from the ground up to serve as a military pilot trainer. Earlier jet trainers, such as Lockheed's T-33, were based on existing fighter designs. More than 900 were built by France, Germany and Israel. Magisters were flown for decades by France's own military jet team Patrouille de France.

Take Off! US Jet Aerobatic TeamThe US Jet Team flies what you expect a jet team would fly: low level formations and opposing knife edge passes, formation loops, mirror image fly-bys canopy-to-canopy... heart-stopping action from start to finish. Since the first Springfield Air Rendezvous in 1983 many impressive acts have blazed their way into the hearts and minds of star-struck airshow fans, but few have promised - and delivered - the combination of precision formation flying, in sight and sound, like the US Jet Team. Join us in welcoming them to Springfield Air Rendezvous June 24 and 25.
